Flamenco in the Sun’s Opening Gala
A shared night featuring traditional and contemporary works by renowned Flamenco composer and guitarist JosÈ Luis Rodriguez (Sevilla) and dancer and choreographer Nélida Tirado (New York) with guest musicians from Seville and New York. The evening will open with Nélida Tirado Flamenco in "Solos", followed by an excerpt of Rodriguez's latest concert "De Mis Manos", praised by critics as "one of the best guitar concerts" at the Festival de Jerez 2009. The artists will also come together in a new collaboration to be premiered at Flamenco in the Sun.

One of Flamenco in the Sun’s most popular events returns once more. Café Cantante, an evening of Flamenco with your coffee, features South Florida’s own Flamenco musicians and dancers in a Tablao style performance where you the audience, get to sit up close and personal on the transformed Parker Playhouse stage.

The Final concert of this year’s Festival will draw the audience into a world of flamenco seen thru the transformed lives of three women as they interact with Flamenco in different situations and moments of their lives. This hour long work by Paola Escobar, explores the capacity of Flamenco as a language for expressing human experience. This performance debuted in 2003 and was awarded the Premio Nacional 2005 bestowed by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia.
